Former Australian Crawl singer-songwriter and actor James Reyne heads back to Nashville in a blaze of glory in his return to our show.

He rode horses, fired guns, drove a wagon and was joined by a gunslinger gal in his return to the country music mecca.

James, who recently recovered from skin cancer surgery for his national Fall Of Crawl tour, first played Nashville with Tony Joe White before touring New Zealand with Willie Nelson.

Reyne, now 68, was born in Nigeria and grew up on the Mornington Peninsula.

Going Back To Nashville is on his new disc that follows more than 30 albums – solo and with Australian Crawl.

He was awarded his Order of Australia in 2014.

That was long after hitting with James Blundell on Dingoes hit Way Out West in 1992.

Reyne debuted on Nu Country TV in 2008 with Mornington Peninsula band The Distance in their video for Country Life from their second indie CD Grounded.

“I met James through our family business,” lead singer and Distance writer Gavin Leadbetter revealed.

“We sell guitars and James is a regular customer. We’ve become mates over the years. He loved our first album Don’t Look Back so we are always talking about gigs and recording.”

River Rose Maternal Tribute

South Australian singer-songwriter River Rose performs in Behind Bars with a maternal tribute.

River Rose wrote Always Be There as an emotional tribute to her son Z who joined her on swings, under trees and near beaches in her video.

She wondered where he would be in 18 years.

River’s video was shot at two South Australia locales.

The first was a cliff edge at sunset at Maslins Beach and second in a private residence in the Adelaide Hills.

Her clip is centred around the story of a mum and her baby boy.

It follows them as they grow up together with the mum ageing and watching her baby become a young man, a teenager, and then eventually a grown man with his own family.

Going through lots of memory flashbacks throughout, the video really evokes a lot of emotion for many, regardless of whether they relate more to it as a parent or as the child of a parent whether they are still with us, or not.

“This idea of the mum and child was something I had envisioned for this music video from the beginning, and I took that idea to my amazing, award-winning Director, Mike Williamson from Mixed Mediums, who brought that vision to life, and created this whole beautiful, and emotive storyline for it,” River revealed.

“I work as a photographer, and my father was also a photographer. We even used my camera for the music video, so there is a strong reference to my own story and what I am passionate about in this music video.”

Always Be There was produced in Nashville by Kate Malone for RTC Records.

Harry Foxton Hits The Streets Of Fremantle

Perth singer-songwriter Harry Foxton takes to historic streets of Fremantle in his Nu Country debut.

There were no eagles or dockers in sight in his Seen The Dark video that follows a young couple riding through life’s darkness together hoping to one day roll into the light.

The video directed by Kaleb Woodward features 50 plus unique Fremantle doorways.

Each frame Foxton’s performance and evoke memories of past relationships, family homes and moments of change. These spaces also represent the promise of new beginnings.

“Seen The Dark reflects on the importance of momentum through life’s hardships,” Foxton revealed.

“We don’t often see the light without witnessing the dark. The importance for me with this song is the constant belief that tomorrow will outshine the past. I built a romantic journey of two people riding through life experiencing the highs and lows yet holding on and believing there’s a light at the end of the tunnel. Something I feel I’m doing a little bit more of.”

Seen The Dark is on Foxton’s new album Fear and Forgiveness released in March and follows previous singles One More Night and Back Seats.

Willie Nelson Returns With No Back Seats

Texan singer-songwriter and actor Shotgun Willie Nelson proves he has no back seats at the age of 92 in his return.

But he has time for a Last Leaf in his recent video.

Last Leaf On The Tree is the title track of his 76th studio album and 153rd album in his colourful career.

Last Leaf illustrates the longevity of Willie who turns 93 on April 29.

It was produced by Micah – one of his three sons and eight children.

Willie played golf with late Rhodes scholar and fellow Highwaymen singer-songwriter actor Kris Kristofferson on a Yarra Bank course on one of his many Australian tours.
