Dierks Bentley Headlines Nu Country TV

Arizona singer-songwriter and pilot Dierks Bentley boomerangs as headliner of Nu Country TV on Saturday August 16 at 9 pm on Channel 31/Digital 44.

Kentuckians Alex Miller and Kelsey Hart, Texan Tracy Byrd and North Carolina singer John Morgan return to our show, repeated at 3 am on Monday.

New Zealand Golden Guitarist Sophie Toyne and Florida band Soul Circus Cowboys and Louisiana singer-songwriter Eddie Raven also appear on our program filmed and edited by our co-producer Laith Graham.

Nu Country TV is a highlight of C31 streaming list on Digital 44.

Dierks Bentley has a drinking drama on his return to our show – Friday night found him in a battle with the bottle.

Bentley, now 49, chose whiskey not beer in Well-Well Whiskey on his 13th album Broken Branches.

Dierks and Indiana singer-songwriter Stephen Wilson Jr sampled a cold beer can in their previous appearance on our show.

Bentley previously appeared on our show with She Hates Me, Cowboy Boots, Drunk On A Plane and Say You Do.

Dierks played St Kilda Palais with Lee Kernaghan in 2012 where they welcomed former AFL stars Andrew Walker, team-mate David Ellard and St Kilda captain and latter day TV host Nick Riewoldt.

Dierks, father of three, flies his own jet to gigs in the U.S. and played a hero pilot on his Riser Airlines flight of fancy.

He fronted Nashville CMT Awards dressed as a Riser Airlines pilot.

Kentucky bluegrass bard Alex Miller and Tracy Byrd follow showcase a different bird in their return to our show on Behind Bars.

Tracy, now 58, and Alex, just 21 and 6 foot 6, flew high in their video The Byrd.

Alex previously fronted our show with My Daddy’s Dad, When God Made The South, Putting Up Hay, Girl I Know A Guy, Through With You and Don’t Let The Barn Door Hit Ya.

Miller grew up on his family farm in Lancaster and was 17 when he fronted American Idol.

Kelsey Hart Gone With The Wind

Fellow West Kentucky young gun Kelsey Hart pays tribute to a brown eyed belle who rang for him in the dust.

Hart wrote Gone With The Wind for his wife with his producer Blake Bollinger and hit-writers Jesse Frasure and Lee Thomas Miller.

Jon Steingard directed the video.

His previous single – debut album title-track Life With You – has over 117 million Global streams and was certified Gold.

Kelsey has also written hits for Trace Adkins, Dylan Scott and Jake Owen and made his Grand Ole Opry debut on June 28, 2024.

John Morgan Departed Damsel Drama

Smoky Mountains singer-songwriter John Morgan returns to our show with a departed damsel dream – Kid Myself – from his debut album Carolina Blue.

Morgan, 29, began his career playing bluegrass in his family band in the Great Smoky Mountains.

Morgan previously appeared on our show with Georgian star Jason Aldean on their duet Friends Like That and wrote eight songs for Aldean’s 10th album Macon, Georgia.

Friends Like That was also on Carolina Blue.

Sophie Toyne Celebrates Orange Skies

Kiwi Golden Guitarist Sophie Toyne, just 15, debuts on our show with a Sharon O’Neill song that was lost for 47 years.

Service Of Mine is on her debut album Orange Skies.

It was released on July 18.

She also wrote previous single Seven Sharp Story with Sharon O’Neill and Dick Le Fort.

Sophie won the 2024 Intermediate MLT Gold Guitar award and CCMA National Talent Award this year.

Soul Circus Cowboys And Eddy Raven Head South To Mexico

Florida band Soul Circus Cowboys and Eddy Raven head south to Mexico in their return to Nu Country TV.

Billy McKnight formed the band in 2009 in Tampa and they headed south of the border to enjoy the beaches after a ruptured romance.

It was a retreat where they also hit stages and surf.

They perform Raven’s 1984 hit I Got Mexico.

Raven, now 80 and born Edward Garvin Futch in Lafayette, Louisiana, has released 16 albums.

His hits include I Got Mexico, Shine, Shine, Shine, I’m Gonna Get You, Joe Knows How to Live and Bayou Boys.

Raven has also written hits for Don Gibson, Texan Randy Cornor, Jeannie C. Riley, Connie Smith and The Oak Ridge Boys.

George, Waylon, Merle and Willie Nelson were among country historian Barbara Dowling’s favourite Texans.

The Waylon, Highwaymen, Merle and George discs were donated by Barbara who died at 77 in December, 2020.

She co-hosted Long In The Saddle in our Nu Country FM era and was pioneer Australian and Victorian country music awards judge.

Barbara was admired for rising above losing her sight as a young woman and her country passion with annual trips to Waylon’s birthplace in Littlefield, West Texas.

Waylon died at 64 on February 13, 2002, and is survived by singing spouse Jessi, now 81, and son Shooter, 46.
